A vast new headquarters campus for Jehovah’s Witnesses has made extensive use of an attractive brick blend specially developed by European Building Materials using a trio of Dutch facing bricks.
The 82-acre Temple Farm campus on the outskirts of Chelmsford houses the charity managing the multi-lingual production and distribution of print, audio and video facilities for Jehovah’s Witnesses. The campus comprises production, office and residential buildings on a former derelict site previously occupied by car breakers.
Set in pleasant landscaped grounds, over 550 modest residential units in 5-storey blocks accommodate residents and visitors. Elevations are clad in the 3-brick Temple Blend created by EBM using machine-made stock bricks from Dutch brick manufacturer Beek. The finely textured facing bricks were selected in 3 elegant shades of grey, laid in Flemish bond with subtle projecting brick details adding further interest to the brickwork.
The new campus complements its rural surroundings and incorporates a range of sustainable design measures. Much of the construction was carried out by skilled volunteers from the Jehovah’s Witnesses community.
