The low profile of the building, all but hidden behind a brick wall, preserves the long view from the street which is important to the neighborhood.

Linea 3016The choice of materials where also selected to complement the neighborhood. Jack selected the Vande Moortel Linea 3016  which matched in color the adjacent property but the longer and thinner format of the brick created a subtle variation.

The house won the RIBA Viewpoint Competition (RIBA Journal Sept. 2015). With the judges comments as follows: "Overall, Woolley aimed for as simple a palette as possible to emphasise the texture of the wall, choosing Roman bricks to tie in with the red brick of the neighbours while signalling through their shape that it is a new, if enigmatic, intervention.” (RIBA Journal, September 2015)
